There are less expensive models of this kind of DeWalt drill, but this particular DeWalt model should be in every builder’s arsenal. The amount of torque with the 3 speed selections makes it a winner along with a useable variable speed trigger that is easy to operate. Also, it can fit into really tight places. I used it on every single repair job in my unit in Florida this past winter.

So far nothing negative about this tool. Very Good battery life and about the right size and weight to tackle most moderate Construction jobs. Used it to instal hundreds of 2.5" screws to attach corregated polycarbonate panels without a hitch and to install numerous 6" timberlock screws.

The kit came in original packaging with a white zip tie holding the dewalt case closed. The drill and batteries are correct. The charger that came with this product is not the charger shown in the pictures. It is the mini charger DC81102. Otherwise satisfied with the drill and batteries. But someone definitely tampered with the contents of this kit.

This is one of those tools you can use for everything so you may as well get a quality one like this. It turns boring, tedious jobs into quick work. I've used it on vehicle repairs, appliance assembly and general carpentry. Don't let friends borrow it.

This driver is perfect for driving screws for deck work. I was so glad I read other people's reviews and upgraded to this model instead of my original choice.

Haven't used it intensively but so far it feels solid. The 1st gear calculate how much torque to use before engaging... and that's amazing just the right amount of torque gives a neat result.

I have owned many cordless tools in the past 40 years--Makita, Craftsman, Bosch, Delta you name it. And Ive used them in construction and used them hard. But this little gem outworks them all!

We are happy with our purchase. The case is the perfect size and carries two batteries, the charger and the impact driver, along with miscellaneous bits. The impact driver is well-balanced while holding and the lighted workspace is very convenient. Not too heavy yet feels very sturdy and solid.

This little guy is really nice. I would buy it again with no hesitation. I use it for not intended purposes, drilling through wood, and maybe even tile with the right bit. The chuck is a little wobbly but it still spins. The batteries are good enough and have the charge checker that helps know when it is low. The light around the chuck is amazing as well. I wish they were all like that.

I recently upgraded my 4 year old Ryobi and bought a 20v Max XR Impact driver and it has been freaking incredible! Seriously, I had lived all these years not knowing what a real power tool was but Holy cow!

I was able to drill holes for my wiring in my garage through around 20 studs and 15 ceiling joists on one 2ah battery.. 2ah..what!? My 4 year old Ryobi struggled on 1 stud... I thought it was all hype but I was proved wrong. The power is just rediculously good.

I've purchased a Router and Multi tool as well! Both are great for remodeling my garage!

Hubby loves it, powerful, keeps a long charge, not heavy or hard to use. Great quality and value for the money! This did not disappoint at all! He's impressed, especially for the price we got it at, it was a steal! He loves Dewalt! He's happy which means I'm happy happy happy!

Much better at driving fasteners than a drill driver. I recommend getting a good quality set of impact driver bits to use with this. Battery life seems good but you can vary that with a bigger or smaller battery. Seems to have good power for driving but thats what makes an impact friver so much better than a drill. Bits can be changed in this very, very fast. The light is a great feature too.

I used to use a drill to drive and loosen screws and did get pretty good at not stripping them but using a great, cordless driver has proven far superior. It gets into tighter spaces, has a light for dark spaces like closets, rafters, under house. You can use a low torque setting for cabinet screws to prevent stripping the holes. Best thing is you can be super aggressive and drive long screws without predrilling. That’s great when you have a fast or large project like a wood retaining wall or a shed build. Basically, if you do a lot of screws it is absolutely worth it.

I recieved the dewalt impact 20v max XR today and it was better than I thought I I usually don't order anything online call me old fashion I guess lol. The packaging all the stuff I got with no damage bumps or rips on it everything was perfect and the impact drill is the best I have used now the problem is finding projects to doing gave it 5 stars haven't found no problem yet. I am about to be redoing my house that's was damaged during Harvey I lost all my tools so have alot to do.

I bought this based on a number of website reviews where it consistently came out in the top three recommended impact drives - I have not been disappointed. The item is compact, built well and packs a mighty punch for the size. I first used it to drive 120mm M8 coach screws into timber and it does the job with ease. The description says DEWALT DCF887D2 20V MAX however in the UK you get the 18V battery pack which is still plenty powerful enough to do the job.

I had to re-board my deck. I borrowed my neighbour’s DeWalt impact driver. My wife and I were so impressed with its function over my power drill, we ordered one later that day. Very powerful, very long battery life and didn’t go through a handful of bits (one bit did the whole deck and it’s still good to go). Best price out there too. Highly recommended.

This is the best tool I have (no joke). I run 7 fast food restaurants and this thing is used multiple times a day. It is very powerful, and it is so small and easy to use. I drill self-tapping screws into metal, I drill into stainless (using the impact bits). One thing that is a must to buy is the magnetic socket sets that have the hex end. I've had this for a little more than a year now. I do not regret this purchase at all. I feel like I could toss it out the window today and I would have still gotten my moneys worth (by the way, I'm not going to haha). By the way, the battery lasts pretty long. Normal use allows me about 3 to 4 weeks of work time. That includes lots of drilling, pulling in and out screws... The flash light is nice on this, but I wish it were a little brighter and would stay on longer (I think the new models do that now).

I use this tool mostly for driving 2 1/2 & 3" deck screws in treated wood material. We build access ramps for handicapped who have difficulty getting into and out of their homes. This driver really comes in to it's own on this type of application. It is very light weight compared to the older DeWalt drills with the heavier NiCad batteries. Our jobs typically run about 3 to 4 hours in duration and the 2-amphr battery does quiet well. If I start with a fully charged pack, I usually don't have to change it out during a work session. Unless you have a real need for a longer run period, I'd recommend the smaller, lighter 2-amp packs over the heavier 3 and 4-Ah units. To us over 70 folks, the lighter weight tool is important. Charge time with the included charger is about one hour for a complete charge. The drill has plenty of torque for about any common drilling/fastening job within it's capabilities. The 887 is not designed to replace a high-torque impact wrench, but it will run lug nuts in and out after they are broken loose or finished with a lug wrench. Time will tell about durability and longevity of the tool and batteries, but I'd highly recommend this impact driver.

I bought the DeWalt 20V 887 to build a large fence and deck project. My brother had a corded heavy duty drill. My DeWalt worked flawlessly and drove 3.5 inch screws easily and as fast as his much heaver drill. With a belt hook and no electric cord I was getting almost twice as much done as he was. I had never used an impact driver before and it is unbelievable how it takes the torque out of your wrist and just drives any screw and tightens 5/16th bolts as well as much larger corded tools. Battery life was exceptional. The kit came with two batteries. I was still driving screws at least a half hour after the second battery was charged and ready to go again. I never had any downtime waiting for a battery to charge. This DeWalt had much more power and battery life than I asked it to give. After five long hard days I can't find anything I would change about this tool.
